Recommendation: 'Obsession' by Helen Jones

A story of sex­ual obses­sion, com­pul­sion and humil­i­a­tion, ‘Obses­sion’ by Helen Jones is a char­ac­ter study of frus­tra­tion and intense sex­ual need. It focusses on Julia Mar­shall a woman just into her for­ties who craves male com­pany and all that goes with it. Tired of being alone on her birth­days Julia decides to book a male escort. After remod­el­ling her cloth­ing and her­self she decides to be unchar­ac­ter­is­ti­cally bold and book a young black escort 21 years younger than herself.

This is the start of her jour­ney into the dark­side of sex­ual obses­sion. She is quickly sex­u­ally infat­u­ated with ‘Max’, and can­not stop her­self giv­ing him her all. But after awhile the money starts to run out, and then.…well there are con­se­quences for them both, and an end­ing I didn’t see com­ing at all. This is a very enter­tain­ing and well-​written story. It is espe­cially good in por­tray­ing the frus­tra­tion and needs of Julia, and how this changes her from a lonely school­teacher into a woman who will do any­thing to keep a man with her.

It is as much the story of her trans­for­ma­tion from a lonely school­teacher into a sex crav­ing slut who will do any­thing, a woman sho sheds her inhi­bi­tions and no longer cares what any­one thinks, as the story of the rela­tion­ship itself. This is a story that works on a vari­ety of levels.

It is at once an erotic story, and a char­ac­ter study. A very promis­ing start from this new author.

But after awhile the money starts to run out, and then….well there are consequences for them both, and an ending I didn’t see coming at all. This is a very entertaining and well-written story. It is especially good in portraying the frustration and needs of Julia, and how this changes her from a lonely schoolteacher into a woman who will do anything to keep a man with her.

It is as much the story of her transformation from a lonely schoolteacher into a sex craving slut who will do anything, a woman sho sheds her inhibitions and no longer cares what anyone thinks, as the story of the relationship itself. This is a story that works on a variety of levels.

It is at once an erotic story, and a character study. A very promising start from this new author.
